AI IS RADICALLY CHANGING THE WORLD OUR KIDS LIVE & LEARN

Since the debut of ChatGPT, Ai tools have disrupted most aspects of life online. But the team at Polyform Labs was concerned that nothing was being built intentionally for the second biggest group in the world: Gen Z and Gen A. Having deep experience building for this curious but vulnerable group, the team set out to define and design a framework for building safe, secure, and positive Ai for youth. To test our Z-Ai Framework, Robbie was born.

AN AI DESIGN FRAMEWORK FOR Gen Z / Alpha

Large Language Model (LLM) Ai systems have become common place in the tools we use every day, from Microsoft Word, to ChatGPT, but how does a LLM built for children differ? This was the core question Robbie and our Z-Ai Framework aimed to solve.

In our Discovery Phase to create the perfect LLM-powered toy for kids under 16, safety and positivity were paramount. We envisioned a toy that could operate securely offline, ensuring no data ventured out. By preloading it with curated, age-appropriate content, we eliminated concerns about unsuitable topics. Tactile feedback mechanisms were necessary for guiding young users seamlessly. A user-friendly interface was introduced, making navigation intuitive for kids.

While we were confident in its standalone safety, we added an oversight mode for parents, offering an extra layer of content review. This toy wasn't just a product; it was our commitment to safe, unsupervised fun.

PACKAGING A PORTABLE, FUN, & SAFE SOLUTION for a new kind of ai

To ensure Robbie's safety, disconnecting him from devices was crucial. Robbie had to be unhackable, not record personal data, and gain user trust. Thus, we designed Robbie as a toy: portable, housing essential hardware, and durable for young adventurers. We chose a cloud-like shape, creating a unique identity for Robbie, free from cultural biases. This shape also maximized fall protection and minimized injury if stepped on. A carabiner on his head enhances portability, urging you to carry Robbie everywhere. Robbie's vibrant logo and colors convey his charm and assure parents of its technical reliability.
